Aflatoxin Testing
ALS - Columbia offers aflatoxins testing (including the analysis of the aflatoxins B1, B2 and G1, G2) in complex food matrices. They use a liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method which provides greater sensitivity and selectivity necessary for the trace analysis. This method is appropriate for showing compliance with the regulatory limits of 4 μg/Kg, the maximum total aflatoxin content allowed in products for direct human consumption as set by the European Commission.
Aflatoxins are potent natural carcinogens produced by the fungi Aspergillus flavus or Aspergillus parasiticus. These fungi are known to grow on nuts, spices, milk, cereals and other agricultural products and have also been found in medicinal herbs contaminated by fungi.

Chromatographic Separation of Aflatoxins

Chromatographic separation of aflatoxins G2, G1, B2 and B1, at 5, 1.5, 5
and 1.5 ng/mL solution concentration, respectively.
