European Union's Regulation on Chemicals

ReachREACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical substances. It is the European Union’s Regulation on chemicals and their safe use (EC 1907/2006) and was promulgated in June 2007.

All manufacturers and importers are required to list information about the safe handling of the chemical components of their products in a central database run by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). This database is available to everyone.

The agency is also responsible for gathering information about known hazardous substances or substances that members of the European Union propose as hazardous and restrict their use within or ban them from any member states to the European Union.

Information about the chemical in the database and other information about the ECHA can be found at http://echa.europa.eu/home_en.asp.
